2. Vision Statement

To develop and implement a Duty Inclusive Pricing (DIP) system that enables Mouser Electronics to pass the costs of tariffs and customs duties onto customers, starting with India, while maintaining competitive pricing and ensuring transparency in cost structures. This system will be scalable to support additional countries as business needs evolve.

3. Business Objectives

• Present customers with an educated estimate of total landed cost of goods quoted and purchased via all available Mouser media/channels globally.
• Protect business profitability by mitigating profit leaks related to the import and export of goods.
• Enable entry into new markets and further penetration into existing markets by meeting local government and regulatory requirements.
• Centralize calculations for various fees, surcharges, duties, and tariffs to ensure a consistent customer journey across all channels.
• Provide a flexible system to adapt to evolving business demands, regulatory changes, and competitive adjustments without significant development efforts.
• Maintain superior uptime performance to meet the requirements of all applications that must consume and present the data/calculations.

4. Project Scope

In Scope:

• Calculating and displaying duty inclusive prices across all Mouser applications for products shipped to India.
• Updating underlying APIs to support duty inclusive pricing.
• Creating onboarding modals and updating internal tools as needed.
• Implementing business rules and logic for tariff calculation and application.

Out of Scope:

• Changes to customer-facing documentation.
• Re-calculating duty amounts for scheduled orders or backorders at the time of warehouse release.
• Support for 3PL in the context of the duty inclusive pricing project.
• Changes to the UvG Order Details page.
• Creation of new IPC codes to support duty inclusive pricing.
• Ability to clear the modal by clicking the escape key.

• The system must ensure duty inclusive pricing is accurate and guaranteed, not estimated.
• The system needs to integrate seamlessly with existing Mouser applications.
• The project timeline is dependent on the availability of key stakeholders and development resources.
